First week home! · April 23, 2008

Our dear daughter continues to amaze us. She is learning more English everyday and is attaching so well with her Mama & Baba. JunFen is very much the family manager - arranging us for photos, tea parties, family "band" using toy piano, drum and xylophone - playing catch and  having us each take our turn feeding her baby doll.

JunFen has warmed up to the kitties, especially after one of them had to go to the emergency room. She pets them gently and feeds them.

She has been eating some Chinese food and has ventured a bit into some American foods. Macaroni and cheese did not go over, but hamburgers get four stars!

She loves to keep things organized and also enjoys helping mom and dad with chores - throwing clothes in the washer, mixing up ingredients for French toast (including cracking eggs) and dusting.

Baba excels in the technology and mechanical area and has JunFen helping him assembling furniture, learning from our Mandarin/ English translator and operating the DVD.

Her first medical evaluation at a children's hospital went well. She teased the interpreter - telling her she was 4 years old - and then 7!* The Barbie dolls came in hand while she was waiting. Tomorrow we tour her school and then hit a water park!

Thanks again for all the affection, love and support you've given us as we embrace our new dear one!

* We've since learned that in some regions of China the people count their birthdays from days since conception. This explains JunFen's advancement in age :)
